Remember this if you have Parkinson’s Disease. ROTATION, ROTATION, ROTATION!!!!
Trunk rotation is one of the first things that someone loses when they have Parkinson’s. It actually is a sign that doctors look at when diagnosing PD. One of the first exercises I give my clients is rotational movements. It can be standing rotation if you’re balance is good, or sitting if concerned with falls.
It’s a great warm up in the morning before getting out of bed and can be done laying on your back, rotating your upper body and then your lower body side to side. When sitting at the edge of your bed, reach across your body and reach as far as you can (without falling over!). If you’re having trouble moving during the day, do this 10-20 times and see if it helps loosen you up.
